At the heart of the RFP Professionals Circle is one simple truth: the real value is the people. Over the years, I’ve learned that no tool or template compares to the wisdom of peers who have been there, done that. This community isn’t just about exchanging best practices - it’s about sharing war stories and winning strategies that only fellow RFP veterans can truly appreciate. Each member brings unique experiences, from hard-earned lessons on a failed bid to clever tricks that helped win a million-dollar contract.

Imagine a place where a proposal writer can ask, “How do I handle an ambiguous requirement in an RFP?”, and within hours get answers from others who’ve faced the same challenge. Or where a procurement manager might casually drop insight into how they evaluate proposals, giving bidders an insider perspective. In this proposal writer network, every question and answer builds a collective knowledge base. The people in this circle become an unofficial advisory board for each other a support system in a field that’s historically been all about going it alone.

Most importantly, the group thrives on a spirit of camaraderie and trust. We celebrate each other’s wins (because who else really understands the joy of a proposal win after weeks of grind?), and we empathize with the losses. The members aren’t just connections on paper; they’re colleagues in the craft of RFPs, and that human connection is what makes this RFP community so valuable.

Proposal and Bid Managers

Who This Group Is Ideal For

The RFP Professionals Circle is ideal for anyone whose world revolves around crafting or managing proposals and bids. If you find yourself nodding along to the scenarios above, chances are you belong with us. Specifically, this group is a great fit for:

  • Proposal and Bid Managers: Professionals who coordinate the entire proposal process and could use a network of peers to brainstorm with.
  • Proposal Writers and Drafters: The wordsmiths and content gurus who shape RFP responses, eager to share writing tips or find better ways to articulate value.
  • Bid Estimators and Cost Engineers: The number-crunchers who price projects and want to discuss estimation strategies or tools with others in the same boat.
  • Business Development and Sales Teams: Anyone who regularly responds to RFPs or RFQs and wants to improve their win rates by learning from others’ experiences.
  • Procurement and Sourcing Professionals: Yes, even the folks on the other side of the table! If you issue RFPs or evaluate proposals, your insights are incredibly valuable to bidders - and this circle gives you a chance to share and learn what happens after your RFP hits the street.

Whether you’re a seasoned bid director with decades of experience or a newcomer drafting your first executive summary, you’ll find others at a similar stage and many who have been where you are. This invite-only bid management circle is deliberately curated to include professionals across industries from construction and engineering (AEC) to IT, healthcare, government contracting, and more. The common thread is that we all share a passion (or at least a livelihood!) for the art and science of proposals.

What This Group Is About (and Isn’t)

From day one, we want to be clear about what our community is about - and what it isn’t. Having a shared understanding keeps our circle healthy and valuable for everyone.

What you’ll find in the RFP Professionals Circle:

  • Real-world Q&A and Problem-Solving: Got a thorny compliance question or a tight deadline dilemma? This group is a safe space to ask for help. Members swap advice on everything from using AI in proposal writing to handling last-minute bid addenda.
  • Best Practices and New Trends: We discuss emerging trends like proposal automation tools, sustainable procurement requirements, or the latest bid management software. If there’s a smarter way to do RFPs, our community will uncover it together.
  • Knowledge Sharing (Templates, Tips & More): Expect folks to share useful resources - a proposal outline that wowed a client, a spreadsheet for tracking requirements, or a checklist for final reviews. Why reinvent the wheel when our network has collective wisdom ready to tap into?
  • Networking and Camaraderie: This is as much a proposal writer network as it is a learning forum. Connect with peers who understand your work. You might find a mentor who’s an RFP veteran, or discover a budding proposal manager you can mentor. We’re here to build each other up and maybe even forge friendships beyond just LinkedIn likes.
  • Celebrating Wins and Lessons Learned: When someone in the group wins a big contract, we cheer them on. When a proposal effort doesn’t go as planned, we autopsy it together kindly, so everyone learns. Every success adds to our playbook, and every stumble becomes a stepping stone.

What you won’t find in this group:

  • Spam or Sales Pitches: This isn’t a place to hawk services or bombard others with ads. We have a strict no-spam rule. Every member is here for genuine conversation, not to be sold to.
  • Endless Self-Promotion: It’s great to know what everyone is working on, but this circle isn’t about one-upmanship or promoting your product on every post. We keep the focus on community learning and support, not individual agendas.
  • Random Recruiters or Irrelevant Posts: Because the group is invite-only and moderated, you won’t scroll through off-topic content or job recruiters spamming roles unrelated to RFPs. (Job opportunities within our field can be shared in moderation, but always with context and permission.)
  • Toxicity or Ego Battles: The tone of our community is friendly, respectful, and inclusive. No question is “stupid” here. We all remember our first RFP! Likewise, while healthy debate is welcome, ego-driven arguments are not. We’re building a credible, human network - empathy and respect are core values.
  • Faceless Interactions: Unlike some massive forums, here you’ll see real names, real faces (thanks to LinkedIn profiles), and real credibility. That means when you get advice, you know it’s coming from a fellow professional, not an anonymous troll. We’re all putting our reputation into this circle, and that creates accountability and trust.

In short, the RFP Professionals Circle is about quality conversations and meaningful connections. It isn’t a free-for-all bulletin board. We’re keeping it purposeful so that every time you check in, you gain something useful or uplifting.

The Story of the 16-Year-Old Group Rediscovered

Ours begins with a bit of LinkedIn archaeology. A few months ago, we stumbled upon a near-forgotten LinkedIn group called RFP Professionals. This group was originally created around 2008 making it roughly 16 years old! Finding it felt like discovering a long-lost treasure chest buried in the sands of early social media. The group had a solid name and a history. In fact, aside from a handful of legacy members and sporadic posts from ages ago, it was practically a ghost town.

As a founder in the RFP tech space (and a long-time proposal nerd), I couldn’t shake the feeling that this group still had huge potential. Rather than starting a new RFP community from scratch, why not revive this one with fresh energy and a modern vision?

I felt a bit like an archaeologist brushing dust off an artifact - except this artifact came with hundreds of professionals who had joined at one point, hoping to find a community. Now, we’re breathing life back into that hope. One of the first things I did was post a re-introduction in the group, acknowledging its history and outlining what we want to do differently going forward. The reaction was inspiring. People who had forgotten they were even members chimed in, saying “Glad to see this active again!” New requests to join started trickling in as word spread that the circle was coming alive.

It’s humbling to rediscover a community that was started by passionate folks nearly two decades ago. I don’t know what those original conversations looked like in 2008, but I like to think we’re honoring that early spirit a place where bidders, writers, and procurement pros can find common ground. This story is a reminder that sometimes the best way to innovate is to respect what came before and build on it. A 16-year-old LinkedIn group has become the foundation for something new and exciting today, and I’m honored to carry it forward.

RFP Professionals Roadmap

The Roadmap: How the Community Will Grow from Here

Relaunching the group is just the beginning. We have big plans to ensure the RFP Professionals Circle grows steadily and delivers more value over time. Here’s a peek at our roadmap for the community:

  • Phase 1 Reignite and Connect: Right now, our focus is on connecting the right people and sparking conversations. We’re personally inviting engaged RFP professionals (like you, reading this blog!) to join and introduce themselves. Early discussions are centered on sharing quick wins and pain points - from “What proposal management software do you use and why?” to “Has anyone dealt with a completely unrealistic RFP deadline? How’d you manage?”. This phase is all about breaking the ice and reigniting that collective energy.
  • Phase 2 Engage and Enrich: In the coming weeks and months, we’ll roll out regular engagement activities. Think weekly discussion prompts, polls, and AMAs (Ask Me Anything) with seasoned experts in our field. For example, we might host a live Q&A with a procurement director on how they evaluate RFP responses, exclusively for group members. We’re also planning to curate and share high-quality content - like guides on proposal writing, checklists for bid managers, and industry news that affects how we craft bids. The goal is to make the group not just a networking space, but a go-to resource hub for continuous learning.
  • Phase 3 Community-Led Growth: As the circle gains momentum, we envision members taking on greater roles. We’ll be looking out for community champions - active members who can help moderate discussions and welcome newcomers. Eventually, the group’s direction will be shaped by its members’ interests. Want to start a subgroup for government RFP specialists? Or a thread for proposal humor and memes (because laughter is the best stress relief on deadline day)? We’re open to it! This community will grow organically based on what its members find most valuable. Our roadmap isn’t a rigid corporate plan; it’s a living outline that we’ll adapt together with your input.
  • Phase 4 - Beyond LinkedIn (The Big Picture): While LinkedIn is our current home base (it’s where the group was born, after all), we aren’t limiting our vision to one platform. On the horizon, we’re exploring an official community portal (check out our website’s community page for a hint) where we could host resources, member directories, or even virtual meet-ups outside LinkedIn. Picture a dedicated space with a library of RFP templates, a job board for proposal professionals, or a mentorship matching program. These ideas are on the table as long-term goals. We’re also considering hosting webinars or virtual roundtables where members can dive deep into specific topics (e.g., “Mastering Executive Summaries” or “Effective Bid/No-Bid Decision Making”). It’s all part of the broader mission to make the RFP Professionals Circle the central hub for our profession.

Every step of this roadmap centers on one thing: delivering value to the community. Growth for growth’s sake isn’t the aim - meaningful connection and professional development is. We’re taking our cues from the group’s engagement. If something we try isn’t resonating, we’ll adjust. If a new idea sparks member interest, we’ll double down on it. In short, the community’s growth plan is a collaborative effort. After all, this circle belongs to all of us who are in it.

Why RFP Folks Should Join Now

You might be thinking, “This sounds great, but I’m already busy - why should I join yet another group, and why now?” Here’s why now is the perfect time to jump in and join our RFP group:

  • Shape the Community Culture: By joining during this relaunch phase, you’re not just a member - you’re a founding member of the revived circle. Your voice will help set the tone and topics of discussion. Early joiners have a unique opportunity to influence how the community evolves. Have an idea for a discussion theme or a community guideline? This is the time to bring it up and shape the group’s DNA.
  • Access a Support System When You Need It Most: RFP seasonality is real - and chances are, someone out there is dealing with the exact same challenge you are right now. When you post a question or a rant in a young, responsive community, you often get help almost immediately. Joining now means you won’t have to navigate those challenges alone. Got a submission deadline next week and a section you’re stuck on? Pop into the group; you might get a lifesaving tip from a peer in hours. The sooner you’re in, the sooner you have that safety net.
  • Build Relationships (Not Just Connections): Early members are already introducing themselves and finding common ground. It’s easier to start meaningful conversations now, when the group is still growing, than in a year when it’s bustling with activity. By joining now, you get to know the “regulars” from the get-go. Today’s quick chat about proposal software could turn into tomorrow’s mentorship or even a partnership on a joint bid opportunity. Doors open when you’re part of a tight-knit circle early on.

In short, joining now means not missing out. The RFP Professionals Circle is more than a group - it’s quickly becoming a movement to elevate how we all approach proposals. And every movement is fueled by those who show up early and passionately. We’re building something special here; we’d hate for you to hear about it secondhand down the line and think, “I wish I had been part of that from the start.” So consider this your open invitation to jump in and make this community your own.

RFP Professionals - Largest Bidder's Network

The Vision: Building a Credible, Human Network for Bidders, Drafters, and Directors

In the long run, what do we really want the RFP Professionals Circle to become? The vision goes beyond just a single LinkedIn group - it’s about building a credible, human network for bidders, drafters, and directors alike. I often describe it as finally giving a true home to the tribe of RFP folks worldwide, where everyone from the proposal drafter hunched over their keyboard to the director overseeing a major bid team feels they belong.

Credible is a key word here. We’re aiming for a network where advice and information can be trusted because you know the source. Every member is verified in the sense that they’re a real professional in this domain - not a random internet figure with no context. Over time, I envision that being part of the RFP Professionals Circle will carry a bit of prestige: it will signal that you’re serious about your craft and you’re here to both learn and contribute. Perhaps one day, when someone lands a big win, they’ll proudly say “My peers in the RFP circle helped me refine this proposal”. We want to build a reputation as the go-to community for proposal excellence. That means keeping discussions informative and grounded, and continuing to attract top-notch talent into the group.

When I say a human network, I mean that at its core this circle is about people, not just posts. RFPs might be about documents and numbers, but behind every RFP there’s a human story - teams burning the midnight oil, individuals pouring creativity into crafting solutions, managers strategizing on how to win. In our community, those humans take center stage. We share the human side of the RFP life: the camaraderie of pulling through a tough deadline, the stress when an RFP drops with a one-week turnaround, the pride in delivering a proposal we’re truly proud of. By being human and authentic, we break down the silo mentality that often plagues this industry. Bidders can openly learn from those drafting proposals, and proposal drafters can understand the mindset of the procurement directors who issue those RFPs.

Our vision is that a proposal writer in one country can swap insights with a procurement director in another, and both come away smarter and more empathetic. This cross-pollination can lead to better RFPs and better proposals. Imagine a future where because of conversations in this network, someone drafting an RFP at a big organization thinks, “Let me frame this section more clearly, I remember a discussion where bidders struggled with ambiguous requirements,” or a proposal manager thinks, “The client issuing this RFP probably has XYZ concern, because I recall a procurement professional in the group mentioning what they worry about.” In this way, our circle can indirectly improve the way RFPs are written and answered across the board. That’s a lofty vision, but I truly believe in the ripple effect of a strong community.

Ultimately, the RFP Professionals Circle is about making the RFP world feel a lot smaller and more connected. It’s about transforming a traditionally transactional process into something collaborative and even inspiring. We’re building a place where the often unsung heroes of bids the proposal drafters, the bid managers, the deal-capturers, and the directors behind the scenes get recognition, support, and a collective voice. And we’re doing it through genuine human connection and credible knowledge-sharing.

I’m incredibly excited about this vision. It’s a long-term play, and it will evolve with every new member and every new conversation. But one thing will remain constant: our commitment to keeping this community real, relatable, and rewarding for everyone involved.
